CASE STUDY – Air purification solution for Magyar Suzuki Zrt.

Case study Published: Updated:

Magyar Suzuki Zrt. has been a major player in the Hungarian and European automotive industry since 1991. Since the Esztergom plant opened in 1992, it has produced exclusively hybrid Vitara and S-CROSS models, which are now exported to 123 countries on 5 continents. The company sets an example not only in vehicle manufacturing but also in employee well-being: the plant's canteen kitchen and dining facility provide daily meals for employees. Efficient, environmentally friendly kitchen odour extraction is essential for this to work properly.

Challenge

Suzuki's goal was to introduce a modern, sustainable extraction system that can effectively remove grease and odours while meeting strict environmental and occupational health regulations. Instead of conventional bag filters, the company was looking for a consumable-free system that is economical in the long term and provides at least 90% purification and deodorising efficiency.

Solution

AirQuality Technology supplied an innovative solution to this challenge: by installing the FKE-UV-G series, a compact, multifunctional air purification system was introduced that combines electrostatic filtration and UV photolysis. The technology removes grease and unpleasant odours in a single step, with no filter media to replace at all.

The main advantages of the system include minimal maintenance and easy servicing: the pull-out vertical UV modules provide simple access even in tight spaces. The UV lamps, made of durable quartz and protected by a coating, deliver stable performance for more than 12,000 hours. If required, the unit can also be fitted with activated carbon panels for enhanced filtration.

Smart control and real-time monitoring allow the system to be interlocked with the fan and to run automatically. Thanks to its weatherproof design, the unit is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation, ensuring continuously clean air and regulatory compliance.

Results

After the new system was commissioned, the extraction unit achieved 91.9% odour reduction, confirmed by measurements based on the VDI 3880:2011 olfactometry standard. The technology not only significantly improved air quality but also reduced operating costs and increased employee comfort.

With this development, Magyar Suzuki Zrt. introduced a sustainable, cost-effective and innovative air purification solution that will contribute in the long term to the company's environmentally conscious operation and to a better working environment.
