Effectively supporting sustainability - a case study at one of our Budapest clients

Case study Published: Updated:

Kitchen vapours and fumes contain more than 300 kinds of harmful substances, a significant share of which are proven carcinogens: a mixture of smoke and dust, with oil and grease vapour and a variety of molecules responsible for odours.

The Nuxon AirQuality kitchen system with ESP (electrostatic precipitation) and UV (ultraviolet) technology was designed to separate harmful particles and odours from kitchen smoke, so that the discharged air is free of odours and pollutants.

The unit photographed at one of our Budapest clients ran for six months, Monday to Friday, 12 hours a day, extracting oily, smoky air from a (döner) rotisserie grill and a double fryer.

The photo shows the duct leaving the unit and the deodorising UV tubes. They remained this clean even after six months of operation.

The parts shown in the previous photo stayed this clean because the plates of the ESP filter captured the pollutants. This photo shows the soiled ESP filter, which we wash back to bare metal.

One unit operates at this site, but depending on the size of the kitchen the combined air purifier and deodoriser can be added in modules. It is easy to maintain. Thanks to its IP54 and IP65 protection rating, it can also be installed outdoors. The deodorising UV lamp has a service life of 9,000 hours, which is about two years at 12 hours of operation per day. Filtration efficiency is at least 97%, and odour removal efficiency reaches 90%.
